Funny, most of the authoritarian actions are from the left: Taking over parts of cities, burning and looting, cancel culture and other coercive acts. Two LAC deputies shot in cold blood and naacp leader says “risk of the job.” USC prof. cancelled for stating a Chinese phrase that sounds vaguely like a foul slur (90+ Chinese expats compare his suspension to the cultural revolution…) Yet, I believe most democrats are reasonable people that want the best for their country. Believe it or not, most republicans want the same, albeit with different ideas. We must give the opposition the benefit of assumed good faith — disagree rather than demonize.

The progressive movement is winning and will likely continue to advance for better and for worse. Remember, however, that 40% of the US that identify as conservative/republican are still fellow Americans. Suggest you tone down the hyperbole and focus on constructive solutions. You might be surprised with the support they’d give.

If, in spite of reason you actually believe 40% of Americans are irredeemable “fascists” and push your version of hate (and it is hate to call your country-people fascists when they are no such thing), you are merely sowing discord when we really need peace and understanding. On a practical note, if you want to beat Trump, providing conservatives with this kind of “bulletin board” rhetoric only motivates his base. Calm down. We all need to calm down. Pray for a peaceful, decisive election with olive branches extended by the victor. The future of our democracy is in the balance. Peace be with you.
