Nice article — I used to envy the popular kids in HS. I was a “smart” kid too. I feel sorry for them now, they peaked way too soon. How do you re-create the thrill of being a football star or homecoming queen? Reminds me of Speingsteen’s “Glory Days,” (“They’ll pass you by … in the wink of a young girl’s eye.”)

I have a similar hypothesis of why the rich and famous are often miserable too: they have it all and there’s nothing to work toward except for maniacal greed and horrible manipulation of others. Contentment is found in working, creating and serving. Accumulation and dominance are a drug that destroys those who seek it.
